Be The Match Celebrates Robin Roberts’ One Year Birthday

This past Saturday, September 21, just one year and one day after her life-saving marrow transplant, Robin Roberts, anchor of Good Morning America, accepted the Rod Carew Leadership Award at the Be The Match Tribute Event in Minneapolis. This award is given annually to a person or organization for making a profound difference in the lives of patients and their families through their leadership and commitment to the Be The Match mission. Robin has been described as a "cancer thriver" and has made a significant difference by sharing her transplant story to the world. Be The Match is honored to recognize Robin for her extraordinary accomplishments in the past year:

  • Since her diagnosis over 56,000 people have joined the Be The Match Registry
  • Motivating people to raise awareness by buying and wearing the Robin Roberts Prayer for Protection wristband, over 325,000 wristbands have been sold
  • And generating a national conversation about Be The Match and the need for unrelated marrow donors
