Tom Celebrates Life by Running Half Marathon 10 Months After Transplant

Tom's battle began in 2003 when he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He received multiple rounds of chemotherapy, destroying his bone marrow, giving him a disease called myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS).

Tom received his life-saving marrow transplant from a Be The Match donor in November 2012. Less than 10 months later completed the Sioux Falls Half Marathon (13.1 miles) with his loving family. Tom finished the half marathon in an impressive 2:04:34. During the race, Tom and his family wore running shirts that said, "Team Victory" to help raise awareness for Be The Match.
