The National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP) /Be The Match® is deeply saddened by the passing of United States Congressman C.W. Bill Young. In 1986, Rep. Bill Young championed the NMDP/Be The Match's efforts to strengthen the national marrow donor registry with the creation of what is now called the C.W. Bill Young Cell Transplantation Program.
Rep. Bill Young's incredible advocacy and dedication to this mission helped save lives. Since its inception, the C.W. Bill Young Cell Transplantation Program and the national Be The Match Registry® have made more than 55,000 transplants possible for patients in need of a cure.
Rep. Bill Young leaves behind a powerful legacy. We extend our deepest sympathies and gratitude to his family and loved ones.
