TARGET AUDIENCE
This educational activity is intended for physicians, nurses and other members of the health care team who care for patients who may benefit from hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT).
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Barriers to accessing hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT) and other cell therapies have been well documented. Barriers to care and disparities in outcomes across racial/ethnic groups and socioeconomic status are interrelated. As barriers are present at the donor, patient, physician, institution and policy levels, a comprehensive and systematic approach is needed to identify and target the areas of greatest impact to increase access and improve outcomes in HCT and cell therapy.
During this interactive webinar, expert panelists from the American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (ASTCT) and the National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP)/Be The Match® will discuss current research in barriers to care and proposed solutions as part of the joint ASTCT-NMDP/Be The Match ACCESS Initiative. Panelists will explore barriers across the three initiative committees: awareness, racial/ethnic inequity, and poverty.
Content will be relevant for both transplant centers and community hematology/oncology practices that refer out for HCT and cell therapy, discussing the role that all providers can play in improving access to care.
