HLA Matching Guidelines for Selecting Unrelated Donors and CBUs for HCT

Download presentation (PDF)

Description

Learn practical applications of the recently updated matching criteria for selection of marrow, PBSC, and cord blood unit (CBU) cell sources. Participants will gain perspective on which pre- and post-transplant factors have the most impact on outcomes, optimal match criteria for selecting marrow, PBSC, and CBUs, and the non-HLA factors that affect cell source decisions. Participants will also learn about ongoing research trials and impact on donor and cord selections and timing.

Target Audience

This activity is intended for transplant physicians and health care professionals involved in the selection of unrelated donors and CBUs for HCT.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify the pre- and post-transplant factors that contribute to improved HCT survival
  2. Apply updated matching criteria for selecting marrow, PBSC and cord blood cell sources for transplant recipients
  3. Identify strategies for selecting between mismatched loci with consideration for decision-making based on the strength of supporting research
