In this 2014 report, the author updates the status of the 11 hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) clinical trials identified as having the highest scientific priority at the 2007 State of the Science Symposium convened by the Blood and Marrow Transplant Clinical Trials Network (BMT CTN). Nine of 11 proposed trials were initiated as BMT CTN trials. This article briefly reviews the status of each priority topic and discusses current challenges and opportunities in BMT clinical research. This highly collaborative network continues to work diligently toward continuing to build on improvements in HCT and to make it available to all patients who may benefit from this therapy.
