Clinicians are often reluctant to provide specific complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) therapy recommendations despite use by a growing group of HCT survivors. This comprehensive systematic review of 26 articles on the use of CAM therapies among HCT recipients found that while some mind and body interventions such as relaxation were effective in alleviating psychological symptoms, the majority of the other CAM treatments had mixed results. The authors encourage clinicians to share with their patients the benefits and uncertainties associated with use of CAM therapies.
