Review: Critical Need for Long-Term Follow-Up Care after HCT

Hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) recipients have a unique set of complications and late effects that require specialized care and preventive services to maximize long-term survival. The authors of this review note that recipients receive the best long-term care when transplant physicians team up with oncologists/hematologists, pediatricians, and internists. The authors outline a model for dedicated long-term follow-up clinics that integrate and translate into clinical practice the unique HCT survivorship issues and current long-term care recommendations and preventive care guidelines.
